How to use the DualShock 4 (PlayStation) controller with SkaterXL.
As a lot of you know the DualShock 4 doesn’t work as well out of the box as the Xbox One controller does. I have managed to get it working but you have to change a couple of things around in order to get it to work fully.
The first thing you will want to do is connect your PlayStation 4 controller to your computer via the USB cable that comes with the controller. You should hear the same sound on your PC that you hear whenever you connect any other USB pen/device.
Next you should open up Steam in “big picture” mode and ensure the controller works fine. Now, navigate to the “settings” and then in the “controller settings” check the “Generic Controller Configuration” and ensure both the Xbox and PlayStation configurations are unselected.
This bit is very important. Restart steam completely. Shut the process and make sure to launch it from scratch. This step is important to ensure that the controller settings are saved/loaded into the system.
Now for the fun part. Launch “big picture” mode again and then launch SkaterXL. Your controller should now work fine.
