# Left 4 Dead 2 How to Play Better (Experts Guide 2019)

### Introduction

Welcome, guideoui.com visitors. In this guide, We try to explain Left 4 Dead 2 console commands and cheat codes to make you play better. So we pick up many pieces of information from several sites for you. We hope that this guide will help you.

Rather than most other zombie games, one of the biggest focuses L4D2 is teamwork. This sequel greatly improves upon the already popular original despite only being released a year later than it. There are many modes available, from single player to co-op to versus to survival; there are even a lot of “Mutations”, modes that have unique rules and restrictions. The characters are also pretty funny and each has a primary trait, such as Nick being a serious pessimist and Ellis being a naive optimist. Playing on a controller or keyboard shouldn’t matter either way as the aiming and controls are smooth- possibly even better than some of today’s releases.

### How to Play Better – Experts Guide

1. Enable developer console

Options > Keyboard/Mouse > Allow Developer Console > Enabled

Now, whenever you click [ ] , screen where you can type sever console commands pops out.
You can turn it off by clicking again.
Also, you can change size of screen by dragging the side.

1. cl_viewmodelfovsurvivor [number]

You can type this command in console. So, you have to type [] first.
Default number is 51.
When you increase number, you will see your character’s arm, weapon more widely.
When you decrease it, you will get to see mainly on weapon.

Explaining differently, high fov makes your weapon look smaller but you can see arm and reloading animations more detailed.
Inversely, low fov makes your weapon look bigger and it gets harder to see arm and animations.

Anyway, both too low fov and too high fov aren’t suitable for gameplay in my opinion.
I recommend you customize between 51~100.
(I’m using 85 btw)

Here are some examples.

Default (51)

30

70

90

180

(You will see neither weapon nor arm.)

1. cl_crosshair_dynamic 0

Open console screen and type it.
Default is cl_crosshair_dynamic 1.
When you change 1 to 0, your crosshair size becomes smaller and doesn’t change whenever you move or shoot.
Might be useful if crosshair fluctuating gets on your nerves.

Default (cl_crosshair_dynamic 1)

cl_crosshair_dynamic 0

1. mat_monitorgamma_tv_enabled 1

Default is mat_monitorgamma_tv_enabled 0.
It gets slightly brighter if you change 0 to 1.
This one is pretty hard to distinguish. So, hope you choose between 0 and 1.

Default (mat_monitorgamma_tv_enabled 0)

mat_monitorgamma_tv_enabled 1

1. “setting.mat_tonemapping_occlusion_use_stencil” “1”

This 4th one solves darkness problem several people encountered..

video.txt is located in

Anyway, after you open video.txt with Notepad, press enter at the end of last line.
And copy and paste “setting.mat_tonemapping_occlusion_use_stencil” “1”
Lastly, click file>save.

1. voice_show_mute + voice_mute [number]

You can type both of them in console.
‘voice_show_mute’ allows you to identify the ‘number’ of every person who is using voice-chat.
The ‘number’ is different from every person.

After checking the nubmer of person you want to mute,
you can mute the person by typing ‘voice_mute [the person’s number]’ no matter what.
And on console screen, ‘ [person] is now muted. ‘ will pop out.

1. bind [key] disconnect

You can set any key in [ ] for disconnection.
After this, whenever you press the key you set, you can get out of server easily.
Don’t have to take procedure of normal ‘ Esc > Exit to the menu > Ok ‘

I’m using F10 and had no experience of mistake.
You can erase this function by typing ‘ unbind [key] ‘ .

And possible to check which key you set this function in ‘ config.cfg ‘

1. Set launch options : -novid & -lv

To initiate this options, you have to go to
Library > Click Right Mouse at L4D2 (game lists at left side) > Properties > General

And you can just add both -novid and -lv there.

-novid
This makes skip videos (valve, l4d2 intro) that you don’t have to watch anymore.

-lv

(good for clear sight)
