General Tips for Beginners

  • When you build factories you can see how long it take to create product – both in building menu and after you place it and click on building. You can use this to easily balance your production. If, for example, wood cutter need 0:15 to make wood and planks maker need 0:15 to make plank – you need 1 per 1. Differently – one farm has output 0:30, but mill is 0:15 and bakery 0:30 – so you need 2 farms, 1mill and 2 bakeries to be 100% effective
  • Storehouses are far more needed than in previous games. With limited load/unload capacity you can overwhelm them quickly
  • Paved road not only increase speed of workers but give building much bigger range for social buildings.
  • Careful when you go for trading – first click is “balance” option – so if you have more then you set, you sell but if you have less you buy. To only sell you need to click 3 times on item (hovering over trade icon show balance/buy/sell text)
  • Many quests are very vague when they give them to you – but clicking on upper part of quest log open quest window with text what is going on and sometimes helpful advice. Clicking the lower part of quest log teleport, you to place on the map you need to go.
  • While trade and later truism give lots of gold, most of the game your main stable income are taxes – so more people = more money. Even farmers can give tons if you keep them happy and get lots of them.
  • Postpone your expeditions until you get more materials to actually equip ship with right stuff. You get much better chance to get interesting rewards from successfully complete quests.
  • Faster trade routes between worlds: on the old world – settle your islands to the south west as much as you can, in the new world – northeast. Because this is where ships will appear and disappear on the maps.
  • Have 3 main islands as fast as you can: 1, your main city. 2, for farms. 3, all the factories and smelting. This will let you have a big clean city on your main island with more tourists and income and less pollution, and on your 2 side island you will only need to support pop lvl 2.
  • Sell your ships to NCP’s and then buy specialists and rare items from them, this is faster than going on expeditions and gives you some gold too.
  • After you destroy pirates hide-out keep at least 1 man-of-war there to kill them if they try to come back and rebuild it.
  • Build a second trading pair to the side of your other islands so your ships will need to sail less when they move goods between islands on the same map.
