Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey will be available on Steam one year after launch on other exclusive digital PC platforms. It is a third-person open world survival game where you Explore, Expand, and Evolve to advance your clan to the next generation in this exhilarating new adventure from the creator of Assassin’s Creed.

Once you start to settle your camp, it will be helpful to construct some defenses and resting areas for the members of your clan. Below is how to craft some basic construction.

Crafting

Weapons

NOTE: Some of these are also considered tools.

Base sticks can be piled to create a branch barricade, this is used to keep predators out of your settlement (although this doesn’t always work as animals sometimes glitch over them). It takes 3 sticks to create a barricade, this number can be reduced by buying the corresponding ability in the neuron menu.

ItemHow to
Dead BranchCan be found in trees, and also on small trees made up of Dead Branches.
Stick
  • Can be made by altering a Dead Branch, by stripping the small branches attached to the Dead Branch.
  • Can be sharpened by any rock (this includes precious stones and meteorites) to create a weapon to be used against hostile animals, to fish, poke holes and to lift rocks.
Sharpened StickAlter a Stick using a Blunt Rock or Basalt Chopper (for best effect).
Basalt Chopper
  • Bashing a Basalt with a Blunt Rock a few times.
  • One Basalt smashed by any other rock. Used to sharpen sticks extremely fast (three hits) and butcher carcasses the fastest (Amount of hits depends on the animal).
  • TIPS: When bashing, let go right before you think the chime will happen.

How to Construct Structures

Branch Barricade

– To build a branch barricade, you will need to gather and pile up 4 dead branches(can be reduced with Neuronal tree Upgrades).

– Dead branches are abundant in the savanna, so you should not need to travel to far from camp to find them (the starting clan camp has plenty).

– Once you pile up the branches, the HUD will give you the option to construct. Bang the ground a few time and you will have yourself a brand new branch barricade.

– Barricades can be incredibly useful to protect your clan settlement from predators, as well as offer protection if you decide to take a short rest in the wild away from camp

The branch barricade will be built where ever you pile the sticks, so be sure to put the pile in the spot you would like the barricade to be built.

Sleeping Spot

– Building the sleeping spot is built exactly like the branch barricade, only instead of using dead branches you will need to use natal grass cycads.

– Natal Grass Cycads can be found everywhere in the savanna so don’t worry about having trouble finding some. Once you pile up 5, interact with them the same way you did the dead branches, and construct your sleeping spot.

– Sleeping spots are essential to growing your clan and raising your chances for a successful evolutionary chain. They also provide your Hominids with the best sleep, filling their sleeping meter better than sleeping on the floor.

You can pile up thorn bushes to make a barricade as well. I believe the initial number is 5. You will need to being able to use both hands to pick them up.
